So I was piddling around on pinterest (fancier way of saying wasting time ;)) and came across crock pot freezer meals.  I thought I would try it out.  I used to do Once A Month Mom Cooking with my sister in law, but it takes up so much time and energy- you're talking easily a day and a half.   I just can't do it with 2 kids now.  Plus the majority of the meals taste like they are "frozen"... if you know what I mean.  I read online about people preparing different crockpot meals   at once for a few weeks.  What a wonderful idea.  One evening I put together 4 different crock pot meals (each meal made 2 dinners worth) and I froze them.  It took me all of 45 minutes to complete.  So in theory, I had 8 meals worth and it took me 45 minutes!! WHAT?!?!  It is also super nice (as it was with Once A Month Cooking) that I didn't waste the extra onion I didn't use, or the rest of the tomato.  So very economical- especially if you buy your meat and whatever else you need in bulk.
After assembling my meals, I went to work the next day and started talking to a couple of my coworkers.  I used to be in a meal swap (again, food tasted "frozen" plus our deep freeze went out and I never got back in the swap) and I thought why couldn't we do a Crock Pot Freezer Meal swap.  Whoever wants to participate would make enough gallon baggies of 1meal for each participates family to have 1 meal worth (stored in a gallon freezer bag).
This blog is for us to share our recipes and what we find works best for our swap.
Our first swap is scheduled for Monday, April 30.
There are 6 of us total.  So each person will make 6 of the same meal.  (1 for you and 5 for the other participants)
They need to be packaged in gallon freezer baggies.  So far, we have not said that it has to be a certain brand baggie, but I personally, double bag mine using one storage bag and one freezer bag.
Once the meal is made, lay it flat in the freezer so it will freeze flat and be easier for transporting and storage for the next person.  I lay mine in a box lid or a box this makes sure they are flat when frozen and it's also easy for transporting to work where we swap.

*Update* After our swap today, April 30, we are going to require that each person post their recipe in our facebook closed group a week ahead of time.  This will allow us to read through the recipe and if there is a meal we don't like, we can opt out.
